We're very excited to announce that Bitmaker Labs is adding some great new courses taught by leading Toronto talent. As you may have already heard, we're launching Mobile Development on April 6th. It will be our second immersive coding bootcamp designed to jumpstart junior development careers. We're also launching 3 new part-time courses in April:
- Introduction to Rails (April 6)
- Introduction to Game Development (April 7)
- Ad Optimization (April 29)
All new part-time courses have an Early Bird Special price available for the next week. Apply to the course before the end of the deal and you'll save $250 off tuition. If you're interested in more than one course or have taken a Bitmaker Labs course before, you can save an extra $250 off each additional course you join.
Mobile Development (April 6) will be taught by Kwame Bryan, who has extensive experience as both a developer and educator. Kwame worked as a software developer at EA and Rogers before founding his own mobile development studio, with clients including Microsoft and Kia Canada. He has also taught iOS development at Humber and mentored many students into careers at companies like Gameloft, Scotia Bank, and Verold.
Who is this course for? If you want an iOS development career, this course will put you on a great learning trajectory to get junior development roles. If you want to launch an app idea, this course will teach you how to go from wireframing to deploying your own app on the App Store.
Introduction to Rails
For everyone who wants to build fundamental programming skills, but isn't looking to make a career switch through our Web Development bootcamp, we're happy to announce Introduction to Rails (April 6). Taught by Rails developer and Bitmaker instructor Josh Teneycke, Introduction to Rails will take students from object-oriented programming basics in Ruby to deploying your very own Rails app.
A self-described gregarious autodidact, Josh loves to share his passion for learning and will guide students through prototyping with Rails' powerful built-in generators to building custom models, views, and controllers. In the final weeks of the course, students will build their own passion projects from scratch!
Who is this course for? If you have web app ideas you want to launch or work closely with developers and need to understand programming, this course is a great way to add some new skills to your tool belt.
Introduction to Game Development
Jump into the exciting world of game development and code your first games from scratch using the Unity game engine. Introduction to Game Development is launching on April 7th and will be taught by veteran game developer Julian Spillane. When you're done this course, you will have built two games from scratch – a clone of Pong and your own unique dual-analogue shooter.
Julian is the Director of Technology at DHX Media, the largest independent owner of children's television programming in the industry valued at over $1 billion. He loves to teach and formerly instructed the Business of Gaming course at UOIT. Currently, Julian sits on both the EDGE Advisory Board at Ryerson University and the Curriculum Advisory Board at Sheridan College.
Who is this course for? If you want to build casual games, but have limited technical know-how with game engines, this is a great course for you. While you won't be building 'AAA' games after 12 sessions, you will learn the core skills of game development and have a great foundation to build on.
Are you trying to promote a new business or app? If you're frustrated by low returns on your online marketing efforts, check out Bitmaker's Ad Optimization course. You'll be taught by experienced digital marketers Vijay and Vino Jeyapalan, two advertising experts from Facebook. From campaign set up to measuring performance, you'll learn how to optimize and grow your campaigns.
Vijay's focus at Facebook is on Canada’s biggest retail clients. He’s worked extensively with companies on scaling online acquisition campaigns including Shopify, Hudson's Bay Company, Joe Fresh and other big box retailers. He was previously Director of Marketing at Unhaggle, growing and testing all types of acquisition channels. At Facebook, Vino has worked with Canada’s top Consumer Packaged Goods brands such as Procter & Gamble, SC Johnson, and GSK. He currently helps fast growing eCommerce companies and other startups with direct response strategies. Before starting at Facebook, Vino honed his skills in B2B marketing by acquiring over 100 new apps to join the mobile rewards network at Kiip in Silicon Valley.
